In order to address the regionís most pressing needs, PAN pursues programs in the fields of Education, Environmental Conservation, Crafts and Recreation.
†† Our crafts project aims to expand the tagua jewelry workshop created in 1996 and open new market opportunities for local artisans.
††† Our educational program provides† the community with a teacher dedicated solely to environmental education† and† helps deserving students pursue their education beyond the sixth† grade.† We have also built two Learning Centers, where local people can - for the first time - have free access to books and other educational materials.
†††† In the environmental realm, we train High School students to measure and monitor the quality of the river and drinking water of Loma Alta and its neighboring communities.
†††† Our recreation program seeks to promote ecotourism to Loma Alta and encourage Ecuadorian and foreign students to conduct research at the Ecological Reserve.
